Violence against women

Violence against women and children makes me furious. When I read about it online, I feel this rage boil up inside me. When I have memories of my past experiences I feel shame for allowing another person to treat me that way. A lot of why that happened to me can be blamed on low self worth. A huge battle that I have fought over the years, and thanks be to God and his eternal truth I have been victorious.

Where does this societal issue start?
My low self worth can be blamed on people in my past and the harm they inflicted on me, wether knowingly or not. Their low self worth that caused them to abuse others was caused by someone else. So many broken people, making more broken people. I feel very strongly that fathers of sons need to step up. You are the future. You are the break in the chain of abuse and low self worth.
Teach your sons the value of a woman.
Do you respect your wife or their mother. At all times? Actions speak so loudly.
Do you respect your mother? Grandmother?
Do you find your self objectifying women on TV? Internet pornography a problem?
Your sons will learn from you ( and their mommas) and it’s the most important job you will have. Please take it seriously.
My daughters ( and yours too) deserve godly men that will treat them with love and honor, as God has commanded them to do. I am training my daughters to be loving and honoring to those who they choose to be a part of their lives. But I teach them to choose wisely, remembering that their choice is an act of obedience to God. If they choose well, and fathers are raising godly sons we can break the cycle.

I have learned quite a bit about self worth and love over the past decade and I want to share it but sometimes I don’t know how. It seems that one of my neighbors is in a bad situation and I truly don’t know how to respond. I rarely see her alone so it’s hard to talk to her. I have contemplated calling the authorities, but I know what would have happened to me 20 years ago after the cops left. I am praying for her for now, and I would appreciate it if you do the same. Advice is welcome as well. Thanks for reading.
